Codes and regulations are adopted by the Board of Housing and Community Development and periodic amendments are utilized to update codes and incorporate new reference standards. The Americans with Disabilities Act, 1990: Title II, Subtitle A, (and not Title III) of the Act applies to all state-owned buildings and structures. The accessibility standards to be used are the 2010 Standards for Accessible Design (2010 ADA Standards) published September 15, 2010, excluding the 2010 Standards for Public Accommodations and Commercial Facilities: Title III (Pages 15 – 30).
In addition to the above, University Hospital and other patient-care buildings must also meet NFPA 101, The Life Safety Code, and its referenced standards. Current applicable edition is:
